Support the Academy
Anchored in a courageous tradition that began in 1881, the Academy of the Holy Names takes pride in helping students develop into graduates of conscience, competence and compassionate commitment in the conventions of its foundress, Blessed Marie Rose Durocher.
In this context, the Academy seeks to develop leaders of intellectual distinction, those who are grounded in faith and committed to social justice. All gifts large and small make a difference. There is a strong correlation between the most highly regarded private schools and the giving rate that each school enjoys. Another critical dimension to our giving profile is that foundations often require information regarding the participation of alumni, faculty, trustees and most importantly, parents who are donors. Your gifts, regardless of the amount, provide the Academy with valuable leverage to obtain other donations.
The history of giving to the Academy began at its founding in 1881 when two courageous and undaunted Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary arrived by boat in Tampa Bay. With the support of the Fort Brooke Soldiers, they shared their vision and dedicated their lives in the service of others, namely the children of downtown Tampa. These children would become the first graduates of the oldest and most prestigious educational institution in West Florida, a beacon of light in Tampa Bay.
We invite and encourage you to sustain the remarkable legacy launched by the Sisters so that this unique heritage may continue, and in fact be enhanced, as present and future students of the Academy Discover Their Excellence in the tradition established so many years ago.
While offering an academically challenging curriculum, we respect that the goal of education is to nurture children to become curious learners for life.
