High School Orientations, ACT Practice Day, and Senior College Bootcamp

Student Orientation days are Monday, August 21st, and Tuesday, August 22nd, beginning at 8:00 a.m. The schedule below contains information pertaining to your grade level and additional details about these days.

ACT Practice Day and Senior College Bootcamp will take place on Wednesday, August 23rd. The first half of the day will be a mock ACT test for grades 9-11. This will allow us to collect data to gauge where students are and how to support improvement. Seniors will participate in a college bootcamp led by their college counselors. After lunch, students will go through their schedule (Sets 1-8).

Orientation Schedule


Your daughter's school email must be used as listed when ordering her books for the school year. The delivery and set up of the digital books can only happen if the email matches exactly. Books must be purchased by August 5th to ensure digital access codes are properly assigned to your daughter’s virtual bookshelf.

New students will be instructed on how to access and set up any digital books during the freshman and new student orientation technology training session.

Schedule Changes and Textbooks

If you plan to drop or add a class, you may purchase digital material, but do not access/download digital material. Accessed/downloaded digital material cannot be refunded to your bookstore account.

Student Schedules

Your daughter's schedule of classes is now available in My BackPack. To request a schedule change, please email schedulechanges@holynamestpa.org. College counselors will review requests beginning Thursday, August 10th.

2017-2018 Handbook

Both students and parents should read the Student Handbook, below, prior to the start of school. Please note that there have been changes to both the attendance and grading policies.

New Student MacBook and iPad Distribution

All new rising 6th-12th grade students will be issued their new MacBook and iPad devices the week of August 7-11 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. On Wednesday, August 9th, staff will be available until 6:00 p.m. Please enter via the Bayshore entrance and proceed to room #N304 (3rd floor in the main building).

Students are required to have an iPad 2017 case by orientation. Because iPads are not insured by the school, the Academy suggests the following cases to protect your investment.

If you are unable to pick-up that week or you have additional questions, please contact Kent Smith, Director of Technology.

Science Supplies + Calculator Requirement

  • Science Department Purchases
  • CALCULATORS: There are no specific calculator requirements given for use in math courses below Algebra II. Beginning with the Class of 2020, students taking Algebra II or higher level courses are asked to purchase a TI84 Plus if they do not currently own a graphing calculator. Those students who currently own a graphing calculator will be allowed to continue to use their calculator.

Geometry Notebook Requirement

Students enrolled in Geometry Honors with Mrs. Lamm and Geometry CP with Ms. Dubee are required to purchase an interactive notebook for $20. These can be purchased from your student's teacher during the first week of school.

New Student Paperwork Reminder

If you have not yet done so, please submit the following to Lynn Hathaway as soon as possible, but no later than the first day of school, August 23, 2017.

  • School-Entry Health Exam Form (DH 3040)
  • Florida Certificate of Immunization (Form 680)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Over-the-Counter Medication form (optional, must be signed by a physician)

Students will not be permitted to attend school in August until a current Florida Certificate of Immunization and Proof of Medical Examination are received.

Summer Reading

Fall Athletics

The following high school teams will begin either practices or tryouts in July or August: volleyball, swimming and diving, cross country and golf.

Prior to the beginning of athletics practice and tryouts, the Athletics Office must have completed EL2 and EL3 forms on file. Forms may be turned in to either the head coach or athletic director Kevin Vargas prior to or on the date of the first scheduled practice or tryout. Without the completed forms, the student is not allowed to participate.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up

In the morning, you may drop-off on any of the school's driveways; however, in the afternoon you will have a designated pick-up area. If the first letter of your last name begins with A-L, please pick-up on the south driveway, while M-Z will use the west driveway. All carpools should use the west driveway.
