Swim Takes Second at State Meet

Thanks to a tremendous team effort, Jaguars swimming and diving placed second in the 2A State Meet. According to Coach Bill Shaffer, "with the leadership of the seniors and the true determination of the underclassmen, the team pulled together as sisters and earned their third straight State runner-up trophy. Saving their best for last, they made up a 13-point deficit during the finals to beat the 3rd place team by 7." 

Medal winners included:

  • 5th place 200 Medley Relay (Cassidy N., Katie T., Ashlin C., Bella B.)
  • 4th place 200 Freestyle Relay (Sydney W., Bella B., Ava Z., Katie T.)
  • Ashlin C., 8th in the 200 IM
  • Cassidy N., 2nd in the 500 Freestyle
  • Sophia H., 6th in the 500 Freestyle

Other swimmers scoring in the top 16 and adding to the point total:

  • Emmie D., 15th in the 200 Freestyle
  • Cassidy N., 9th in the 200 IM
  • Katie T., 12th in the 200 IM and 12th in the 100 Freestyle
  • Bella B., 13th in the 50 Freestyle and 16th in the 100 Freestyle
  • Sydney W., 14th in the 50 Freestyle
  • Ashlin C., 11th in the 100 Butterfly  
  • 9th place 400 Freestyle Relay (Cassidy N., Emmie D., Sydney W., Ashlin C.)

Other season accomplishments include:

  • City Relay Champions
  • District Champions (11th straight)
  • Region Champions (9th straight)
  • Cassidy N. broke a 13-year school record in the 500 Freestyle at the Region Championships with a time of 5:04.60, surpassing the prior record by 6.1 seconds.
