To Be, Rather Than to Seem

Introducing Dr. Carson Dobrin

The 2018-2019 school year brought many new faces to halls of the Academy. This year, AHN welcomed four new high school faculty members to our community. In this week's #FeatureFriday, we introduce you to Dr. Carson Dobrin. She joins our community teaching AP Chemistry, Chemistry I Honors, and Anatomy and Physiology Honors.

Dr. Dobrin was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. Upon graduating high school, she attended the University of Colorado for her undergraduate career where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She later attended Wake Forest University for graduate school, adding a Master of Education in Science and a PhD in Neuroscience.

Upon completing graduate school, she moved to Maine where she taught for six years, five of them at the high school level. "I've taught almost every type of science there is," says Dobrin.

Made evident from her long list of accomplishments in education, Dr. Dobrin seems to always be up for a challenge! So it made sense when asked what she does in her free time that she mentioned training for obstacle courses. "I am big into obstacle course racing. I do about four or five of them a year and am training year round," she says.

While the school year has just begun, Dr. Dobrin's classes have hit the ground running and we cannot wait to showcase the fun projects they are doing throughout this upcoming year.

Dobrin states about her time at the Academy so far, "I have been so impressed by the girls here! They have an amazing work ethic, and genuinely want to learn. I have also never been thanked at the end of class, and that happens regularly here. Also the faculty, staff, and administration have been so welcoming. I appreciate all the help and assistance I've received."

If you see Mrs. Dobrin around campus, give her a warm AHN welcome!
