To Be, Rather Than to Seem

Gabrielle M. Recognized as Senior Athlete of the Year

Each year, the AHN Athletic Department selects one senior as the Senior Athlete of the Year. This year's recipient is Gabrielle M. During Gabrielle’s tenure at AHN, she earned nine varsity letters. As a four-year member of our track & field team, she represented AHN in each district meet and qualified for regions in the 4x100 relay last season, while earning a trip to regions this year in the javelin. On the basketball court, she helped lead her team to our school’s first district championship since 2003 and our school’s first regional tournament win since 2015. She also became the 14th member of AHN's 1,000-point club! In addition to being selected for both the Hillsborough County All Star Game and the Hillsborough versus Pinellas County All Star Game, she was also featured and selected as Bright House Network’s Athlete of the Week. Gabrielle will continue her athletic career at Xavier University of Louisiana, where she will attend on a full academic and athletic scholarship as a member of the women’s basketball program.

Head basketball coach, Chris Severini shared the following: “Her basketball accomplishments speak for themselves, and they represent all the hard work that went into it. They represent overcoming difficult times, injuries, failures, and adversity. She went through so much as a player and she should be incredibly proud of the career she unfolded and all the accolades she earned, including being honored with this award tonight.”

Congratulations, Gabrielle!
