To Be, Rather Than to Seem

AHN Celebrates Rose Week

The Academy community, along with SNJM schools both in the United States and abroad, celebrated the Feast Day of Blessed Marie Rose Durocher, Foundress of the Sisters of the Holy Names. Rose Week began with all-school Mass where we commissioned the Eucharistic Ministers and Peer Ministers. During Advisory, students made cards for retired Sisters. In place of our annual Spike and Splash event that was canceled this year due to COVID-19, AHN offered a $5 pink-short day to raise money for breast and pediatric cancers. In its 13 years, Spike and Splash has raised more than $100,000 for the fight against cancer, and we were able to add $2000 to that total with Dress for a Cure. On Friday, students in the high school participated in a virtual prayer service with their counterparts from other SNJM schools. This was a special week for our school as we took time to honor Blessed Marie Rose and the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, whose mission and charism we strive to serve each day.

“Let our charity be a bright and burning light, pointing out the path of virtue to all who surround us.” –Blessed Marie Rose
