The inspirational sound of Rocky echoed through the intercom as the High School honored our National Merit Semifinalists and College Board National Recognition Scholars at a Step Out on September 15. The nine honorees were presented with flowers and walked through the halls while their classmates, teachers, and family members assembled from the 4th floor to the courtyard to cheer and celebrate. “The dedication and preparation that these students have demonstrated is the standard for which we want all Academy students to aspire,” said High School Principal Jeane McNamara. "This achievement articulates the return on investment of an Academy of the Holy Names High School education.”
National Merit Semifinalists
Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) announced the names of over 16,000 Semifinalists in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The Academy proudly congrats seniors Brynn W., Madison K., Kate P., Isabel B., and Lexline J. for earning this prestigious recognition based on their 2021 PSAT scores. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. As a result, these academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,250 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring.
College Board National Recognition Programs
Four AHN students earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs. These National Recognition Programs grant underrepresented students with academic honors that can be included on college and scholarship applications and connect students with universities across the country, helping them meaningfully connect to colleges and stand out during the admissions process.
