Academy of the Holy Names Hires New Rowing Coach

Academy of the Holy Names Athletic Director Kevin Vargas has hired Mr. Bryan Little as head coach of the Academy of the Holy Names Rowing Club (AHNRC). Little brings several years' experience, including positions with The Bolles School and Rochester Rowing Club of Minnesota. His wife, Jocelyn, a former collegiate rower who also has coaching experience, will join the club as an assistant coach.

Club President Rosalind Moffett looks forward to this addition to the club, noting “Brian will ensure we are continuing to build on what is already a strong program and progressing to the next level.” Academy Athletic Director Kevin Vargas shares Moffett’s excitement, recognizing Little’s experience and enthusiasm for the sport of rowing, and anticipates Bryan and Jocelyn will both find a new home at the Academy.

Of his new opportunity, Little said, "I am extremely excited to join the Academy Rowing Club family. I am looking forward to getting to know the school and the athletes. I see great things happening for this group of young ladies and I am looking forward to the adventures of the upcoming year.”

The AHNRC’s fall season will begin on Monday, August 14th, at Rivercrest Park, where Coach Little and his staff will welcome back all returning club members. Incoming freshmen and interested upperclasswomen will have the opportunity to learn more about the club at the prospective rower meeting on August 24th in AHN’s Brady Center North from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

The Academy of the Holy Names Rowing Club is entering its 12th year. As a varsity sport, the AHNRC competes in the fall and spring seasons. The club has consistently earned regional and state medals and has been nationally competitive with the Scholastic Rowing Association.
