Twenty 7th-grade students were inducted into Middle School Latin Club on Thursday, September 26th. The ceremony includes a high priest and four spirits who represent first through fourth year Latin. The initiation ceremony included symbolism such as candles representing the fire of interest in Latin, a knife representing study and apples brought by inductees representing their daily lessons. During the special ceremony, the high priest held the knife in the fire, warming study with interest. One by one, the inductees came forward to have their apples cut, then walked past the fire of interest and cast in some of the seeds. This symbolized the spirit of achievement.
The Middle School Latin Club will compete in academic, creative and Latin brain game competitions throughout the year. Being active in Latin Club allows the students to bring their study of Latin alive. Congratulations to all of the inductees!
