To Be, Rather Than to Seem

Chain Reaction Fundraiser Links AHN Community

AHN hosted the annual Chain Reaction field day fundraiser on September 16, 2022. Inspired by their classmate's strength as she battled cancer, Laura Caroline Jung ’22 and Chloe Mintz ’22 launched the event in 2017 to help lift her spirits and raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer. After overwhelming support from the Academy community, Chain Reaction has continued to grow for six years and has become a staple fundraising event in memory of Cailin Cannella. Though Laura Caroline and Chloe graduated in May, they left Chain Reaction in good hands.

AHN juniors Ashlin C. and Emma K. organized this year’s event with the help of their committee members. New this year, Chain Reaction is offered as an out club for high school students to ensure the event's legacy continues well after current high school students graduate.

It was an awesome afternoon of games, camaraderie, and fun for an amazing cause. As always, teacher pie-in-the-face was a highlight. Throughout the week leading up to Chain Reaction, students purchased raffle tickets for an opportunity to pie one of their teachers. Eighth grader Kylan C. has purchased a pie-in-the-face ticket every year and finally won! She said, "I'm so glad I won my final year as an elementary school student because it was part of my 8th grade bucket list!" She pied Mr. Fulton who was a great sport.
