To Be, Rather Than to Seem

7th-Graders Study Sensory Receptors

Mrs. Hendrickson’s 7th-grade science classes studied sensory receptors and how they are concentrated in our fingers. Students tried counting the raised dots of Braille with their fingertips and then knuckles to investigate neural pathways and how our brain processes and reacts to stimuli. Students came to the conclusion that their fingertips have many more sensory receptors than their knuckles.
