To Be, Rather Than to Seem

Investigating Sensory Receptors

Ms. Gourley’s 7th grade science classes are studying sensory receptors. Students conducted a lab to explore their sense of touch and observed how Braille letters felt using their fingertips and knuckles. This investigation shed light on neural pathways and the way our brain processes and reacts to stimuli. After the lab, students concluded that their fingertips have many more sensory receptors than their knuckles.
