At the Academy, faith formation includes:

• Religious education courses, under the direction of the Elementary and High School Religion Departments, that provide a strong background in scripture and Catholic doctrine;
• Religious instruction in the sacraments and regular participation in the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist throughout the school year;
• Frequent liturgical celebrations throughout the year that offer opportunities for communal and personal prayer;
• Retreat experiences that provide time for deepening one’s relationship with God, growing in self-knowledge, and building community;
• Service to others, especially the poor and disadvantaged, through a formalized service-learning program as well as club and individual activities;
• An educational environment in which, following the Gospel message, students:
  • gain skills in moral decision-making and a sense of personal and social responsibility;
  • develop an understanding of themselves, respect for the person and property of others, and concern for the earth and its resources;
  • learn to understand, accept, respect, and appreciate diversity within the school as well as on a local and global level.
• Mission integration that shares the charism and mission of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, and ensures their Gospel witness are a unique and central part of life at AHN.
• A core value of the Sisters of the Holy Names is hospitality, which is extended to all members of the AHN community. Those of other religious traditions are welcomed to the school and to share in faith activities of the Catholic tradition. At the same time, they are encouraged to develop a relationship with God according to their own beliefs.

• This ministry is directed toward and seeks to involve all members of the AHN community, including students, faculty, administration and staff.
• The Office of Campus Ministry is responsible for articulating a vision for this ministry and for acquiring and developing the necessary resources for implementing that vision.
• The central responsibilities for this office include: convening the community for prayer and worship; providing a pastoral presence on campus; facilitating social justice, community service and outreach activities; offering sacramental and educational opportunities pertinent to faith development; providing retreat experiences and overseeing the mission trip program.
• The office also has a special calling to share the charism and mission of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, and to be sure that they are a unique and central part of life at AHN.
• Teachers and other staff members strive to be models of Christian values as they fulfill their roles as educators, mentors and nurturers.
