Our History
On July 17, 1881, two Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary arrived from Key West to open a two-room school house in a blacksmith shop on Zack Street in Tampa.

The English Department seeks to develop superior skills in analysis and performance of reading, writing, reflecting, speaking, listening, thinking critically and creatively, as well as communicating through a variety of media. Students are provided rich experiences in all modes of writing, as well as a focus on mastering skills in research and writing papers for different purposes and audiences.
