In conjunction with their World Religions course, the junior class visited three worship sites in Tampa.
Community Service
Let us extend a hand to one another...
-Mother Marie Rose
Students put the Gospel into action by practicing service. We encourage our students to choose volunteer activities that respond to various human needs, especially to people who are poor and marginalized in any way, and that show care for God's creation. Service is an encounter with God and a response to God's love.
In order to graduate from the Academy, each student is required to complete and log a minimum of 25 hours of service per year over her four years (100 hours cumulative). When choosing service activities, students consider how the activity fits with Jesus' Gospel teachings or the core values of the Sisters of the Holy Names. Students seek opportunities that extend to others beyond the AHN community through parish churches and local houses of worship (except for ministries during Mass or church services) and non-profits and charities.
Faith in Action
Committed to the vision of the formation of women who are faith-filled, empathic, and just, our Mission & Ministry team has enhanced mission-centered opportunities for high school students with the implementation of mission days. Throughout the year, each grade level will participate in a rotation of service-learning experiences encompassing education, direct service, and faith-based formation and reflection.
The 13 Academy members who traveled to Lisbon, Portugal, for World Youth Day are back – exhausted yet enriched by an unforgettable journey! They joined thousands at the Opening Mass and Welcome Ceremony with Pope Francis and experienced days filled with faith and unity, attending Mass and Holy Hours and engaging in enriching catechesis sessions.
