Our History
On July 17, 1881, two Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary arrived from Key West to open a two-room school house in a blacksmith shop on Zack Street in Tampa.

Academy's Elementary School lives out the school's mission through Jaguar P.R.I.D.E.--Positive attitude, Respectful behavior, Independent learning, Dedicated to safety, Engaged in learning.

Educating Tomorrow's Leaders
Creating confident young women who are empowered and prepared to take on the next phase of their lives. Academy students and alumnae understand and appreciate our motto, Esse Quam Videri, or "To Be, Rather Than to Seem."

The Academy of the Holy Names strives to provide an athletic program that challenges each student-athlete to be the best that he or she can be, both on and off of his or her respective playing field.

2021 Student Showcase Honorees: Bethany M. A'22 and Bella B. A'22

Congratulations to Bethany and Bella for being selected as AHN's 2021 Student Showcase honorees. Eligibility for this recognition is based on students' level of artistic achievement while at AHN and their commitment to pursuing the arts at the collegiate level. Bethany hopes to earn a degree in musical theatre. We’re certain that we will see her on stage one day. Bella hopes to earn a BA in dance and hopefully one day teach the art form she loves so much.
