Getting Ready to be a 5th Grade Rock Star!
Campers reinforce math concepts learning the “whys” and the “hows” through instruction, fun small-group activities, and technology. Rising 5th-graders are guided through centers for both math and reading so they are experiencing a variety of activities that expose them to the hands-on side of reading and math.
Math centers could include work with multiplication and division equations, identifying factors and common factors, exploring measurements and geometric shapes, and more. Reading centers could include things like developing characters, selecting text evidence, grammar, and more. We will begin and end each camp session with interactive whole-group activities in order to stoke their enthusiasm. As campers’ skills grow, their confidence begins to blossom and so does their love of reading and math!
This camp will have the opportunity to swim on Friday if weather and time permits.
