Getting Ready to be a 1st Grade Rock Star!
Campers reinforce math concepts learning the “whys” and the “hows” through instruction, fun small-group activities, and technology. Rising 1st-graders are guided through centers for both math and reading so they are experiencing a variety of activities that expose them to the hands-on side of reading and math.
Math centers will focus on things like the process of relating counting to addition and subtraction, understanding the application of place value, exploring measurement, and geometric shapes. Reading centers will include read-alouds, phonics, and writing practice. Interactive crafts, songs, and activities will ensure that students are having fun. As campers’ skills grow, their confidence begins to blossom and so does their love of reading and math!
This camp will have the opportunity to swim on Friday if weather and time permits.
