Will my child(ren) have play time?

Yes, we strongly believe our students need time to stretch their limbs and have some fun. We will provide play time inside or outside, weather permitting.

Will my child(ren) have time to complete their homework?

Yes, each grade level is provided a time and space to work on homework assignments. We also have assistants and volunteers to help guide students that may need additional help on assignments. If your student(s) does not have any homework, he or she will participate in quiet time, using the time to read, color, or take part in additional quiet activities provided in Extended Day. No outside activities will be allowed.

What will my child(ren) do if they do not have any homework?

Each student will be provided an opportunity to read, color or participate in quiet activities while other students finish snack and homework.

Are electronics allowed?

Since Extended Day is an extension of the school day, we will continue with school rules. School-issued devices will be allowed upon adult approval. Phones will be checked in at the beginning of Extended Day and may be received once signed out.

Can my child(ren) bring their own toys to play with during Extended Day?

No, toys will not be allowed at Extended Day. If toys are brought to Extended Day, your student will be asked to put them in his or her backpack and not bring them back. If a student continues to bring toys or outside activities to Extended Day, the staff will contact the parents to make them aware and alert administration when needed.

Is snack offered or should I pack my child(ren) their own?

Snack is provided daily; the student and parent may decide if they would like to pack a specific snack for their child. In the case of a noon dismissal, both lunch and snack will be provided. Lunch will be served later than the student’s normal lunch time; please prepare by packing an additional snack for the day. Students will be able to eat the snack immediately after dismissal.

What kind of activities will my child(ren) be doing?

Every child in grades pre-K through 4th grade will have the choice between two activities each day. These activities range from art/music, sport/physical activity, STEM/geography, reading/writing/history. We try our best to offer two activities from different categories daily.

Does my child(ren) have to participate in the activities?

Yes, we are encouraging each student in pre-K through 4th grade to participate in one activity a day. Each activity lasts between 15-30 minutes.

What is different for a noon dismissal?

Extended Day will provide a lunch, around 1:00 p.m. and a snack at 4:00 p.m. We realize lunch will be later than normal, so we recommend that you pack a snack for your student to enjoy before lunch is served. Please check our sample noon dismissal schedule on the previous tab.

When is the best time to pick up my child(ren)?

All students must be picked up by 6:00 p.m. or they will incur a $1 per minute fee they remain in Extended. To see when might be the best time for you to pick-up your child, please refer to the sample daily schedule.

How do I pick up my child(ren) from Extended Day?

Please park on the West Drive off MacDill Avenue and walk in to the the Four-Square courts or Elementary hallway to pick up your student(s). You will need to have a valid ID and sign out with the Extended Day coordinator.

I cannot make it to pick-up, can I send someone else?

Yes, the person you send to pick up must be on your Emergency Medical and Pick-up Authorization form with the school. Please remind him or her to bring a valid driver’s license to pick up the student.

How much does Extended Day cost?

Please refer to Extended Day’s price breakdown on the prior tab.

Who will be watching my child(ren) during Extended Day?

The Extended Day staff includes the Extended Day coordinator, assistants, volunteers and AHN Work Study students. All personnel have been equipped with the necessary items to be successful supervising your children.

My child(ren) had an issue at Extended Day, who should I contact?

Please contact Extended Day Coordinator Esther Rivera at with any questions or concerns.

You will receive a statement if a charge has been placed on your account.
