Weekly eNews: April 19, 2018 Dear FIRSTNAME, We have much going on in the arts over the coming weeks. If you have not had the chance to see a performance of "Cinderella," I encourage you to attend a show tonight or tomorrow night. From the vocals to the costumes and scenery, it's an outstanding show. Next week, our high school visual arts students will celebrate their creativity with the annual Arts Fest. I look forward to seeing our students' efforts on display. The Elementary School has its Arts Fest and middle school production of "The Wizard of Oz" coming up in May, along with other end of trimester performances. Come celebrate the visual and performing arts with our Academy students in the Bailey Family Center for the Arts! Sincerely, Art Raimo AHN News Elementary School News Teachers Win the Title It was a close game, but with the help AHN's Mr. Kubiak, the faculty took back the crown of Student/Staff champs in the annual basketball game! Everyone also had a blast celebrating Mrs. Fishman's birthday. Great job to everyone who participated! 7th Grade Florida Keys Trip! The 7th graders are enjoying a week of fun in the sun during their Keys field trip! From hiking the forest canopy, to airboat rides, snorkeling, and kayaking, they're learning all about different wetland environments and how to better care for them! Battle of the Books Yesterday our 4th graders participated in the AHN Classroom Battle of the Books as a way of celebrating a year of reading through the Sunshine State Young Readers List. The winning team was 4B! It was a tough competition, and we are so proud of all of the 4th grade students for their good reading this year! 4B's team included Emma H., Justin L., Alyssa L., Toby S., and Jimmy W. High School News Gasparilla Scholarship Congratulations to Evelyn M. on her $10,000 Gasparilla Scholarship! She was one of only five students throughout the entire Tampa Bay area to receive the award! Students received the award based on academic performance, leadership skills and service. Evelyn is the first AHN student to receive the award. Father-Daughter BBQ The Senior Father-Daughter BBQ is on Sunday, April 29th, at 4:00 p.m. in the Oak Grove. Tickets will be sold for $15 each outside of the senior lounge on Tuesday, April 24th. Checks should be made out to AHN. Please contact Mimi Obeck with any questions. The Combined AHN/Jesuit FRC Robotics Team Placed Second at the South Florida Regionals and Now Advance to the World Championship in Houston! Athletic News Tennis to Region Semi-Finals! AHN's girls' tennis team showed a stellar effort in two days of district competition and earned the title of 2A-District runners-up! They now advance to Tuesday's region semifinal against. Congratulations goes out to head coach Sean Craft and the team! Parent Association News Tonight's Dads Club Meeting Has Been CANCELLED. It Has Been Rescheduled for Thursday, April 26th, at 6:30 p.m. Dinner Will Be Provided. Shula Burger Spirit Day The Mothers Association is hosting a Spirit Day on Tuesday, April 24th, at Shula Burger (500 S Howard Ave.) from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Mention AHN and 18 percent of the proceeds come back to the school!
