Weekly eNews: February 1, 2018

Dear FIRSTNAME,

Each year, High School Community Service Day provides our students the opportunity to volunteer at over 20 different organizations around Tampa Bay. The projects help students demonstrate responsibility, gain valuable service experience and improve the quality of life of those in need.

At the heart of the charism of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary is a special concern for the poor and disadvantaged. By giving of their time and talents, the high school students learn first-hand what it means to live out the mission of the Academy. This year, I had the opportunity to join a number of the girls volunteering at Metropolitan Ministries. It was clear that the students truly understood what it meant to be, rather than to seem. The head chef in the Metropolitan Ministries kitchen even made a point of sharing with me how impressed he was with how serious they took their tasks and how much they accomplished in a relatively short period of time. I was proud to be part of the group. I'm sure there were similar experiences taking place at the other service locations as well.

Sincerely,

Art Raimo
