Summer Camp Volunteer Opportunities

We offer three different shifts each week. While we hope this offers flexibility with your schedule, please do not sign up for a time slot that you cannot fully commit to.

• AM Half Day: 7:30 am–12:30 pm
• Full Day: 8:30 am–4:00 pm
• PM Half Day: 12:30 pm–5:00 pm

If none of the available shifts work for your schedule, we completely understand and appreciate your interest in volunteering! If you find a shift that fits but all spots are filled, please email summercamp@holynamestpa.org, and we’ll be happy to check for any possible openings. Please note that new shifts will only be added once all weeks are fully scheduled. Thank you for your willingness to support our campers!

Please email summercamp@holynamestpa.org. You are not able to cancel shifts on the website. You may however signup for a new shift on your own.​​​​​​

We encourage each volunteer to bring the following:

• Water bottle
• Sunscreen
• Bathing suit, towel and wet bag if you plan to swim with the campers
• Snack (two for full day)
• Lunch (or order through our vendor before volunteering)
• Sunglasses, hat or visor

Lunch orders will open in May, you’ll be able to preview the menu and begin ordering then. No food or drinks are sold on campus so please be sure to order your food at minimum the day before you volunteer. The menu and instructions will be updated here in May.

At Summer on Bayshore we strive to create a fun and safe atmosphere for all campers. We have a dress code for campers as well as our camp volunteers. The dress code is explained below.

We ask that all volunteers are mindful of their appearance. Below you will find guidelines for any specifics. Please note that if you are not following the dress code you may be asked to call home for new clothes. If the behavior reoccurs you may be asked to leave.

Boys:

• Shorts, jeans or sweats with a t-shirt or men’s tank top is acceptable. No cut offs, rips or tears to shirts or pants.
• Please wear athletic shoes daily
• If you plan to swim you will need to wear swim trunks and please bring a towel.

Girls:

• Shorts, leggings, jeans or sweats with a t-shirt or tank top are acceptable.
• Shorts must be at least a 5inch inseam or longer, no spandex (bike shorts) allowed.
• Tank tops are only allowed if covering the main torso from neck to hips, nothing too revealing or tight.
• If you plan to swim you will need to wear a one piece or have a swim shirt over your two piece. Please bring a towel.
• Please wear athletic shoes daily.

All:

You may choose to bring flip flops to and from the pool only. When choosing your clothing please avoid the following:

• No sloppy or oversized attire (shirts should not cover your shorts)
• No inappropriate writing (printing/slogans/sayings, etc.)
• No “gang-like” clothing or accessories
• Volunteers may not wear excessive jewelry items

Volunteer responsibilities are as follows:

• Serve as a positive role model for the campers and a positive representative for the summer program
• Lead by example and dress appropriately for camp
• Help organize and participate in games, activities, etc.                
• Help to organize morning meetings, recess games, and free sports time
• Be on time or early for your shift, and stay for the entire shift.
• Work each day you are scheduled and call into school if an absence is unavoidable
• Sign in and sign out each day                                                                       
• Assist in the supervision of a specific group of campers
• Assist with lunch and recess
• Participate in activities with the campers
• Assist in supervising campers while in the pool or pool area as well as transition to different spaces
• Attend orientation training prior to camp

As a volunteer at Summer on Bayshore you agree to check-in your phone at the beginning of your volunteer shift. Full-day volunteers may check their phones at lunch and check them back in. All phones will be picked up at the end of your shift. Phones are not allowed in the vicinity of campers for their own safety and for no risk of unwanted content exposure.

To volunteer with Summer on Bayshore all volunteers must be fingerprinted through the clearinghouse. Summer on Bayshore will offer multiple dates for fingerprinting, you must sign up and pay during your volunteer registration. Another link to secure your time will go out after you have completed payment. If you do not complete this step you will not be allowed to volunteer.
