Discovering the AHN Experience: A Recap of AHN's Middle School Open House

On November 14, the Academy of the Holy Names welcomed prospective middle school families for Open House, showcasing our learning community and dedication to faith, growth, and academic excellence.

The program began in the Chapel, where President Kevin P. Whitney opened in prayer and set the tone for the day’s exploration of AHN’s mission and values. Sister Lisa Perkowski, IHM, highlighted the importance of mission and ministry at AHN, emphasizing how these core values are integral to the middle school experience. From liturgies and retreats to service projects and donation drives, faith forms the foundation of all we do.

Middle School Principal Troy Newlove shared his perspective on joining the AHN community and reflected on the warm welcome he received in his first year. This supportive culture defines the Academy—a sentiment that resonated with prospective families as they consider joining this community. 

This year, two confident 8th grade students spoke about their own experiences at the Academy, giving families a glimpse into the supportive environment that helps students thrive and find their place. The event’s standout feature was the campus tour, with 8th grade leaders guiding families through key areas, including the performing arts center and athletics facilities. At each stop, prospective families heard from 8th graders sharing personal stories and favorite memories, offering an authentic perspective on student life.

A highlight was the tour of the middle school building itself, where families had the opportunity to observe authentic learning in action and connect with teachers. Guests experienced the Academy’s dynamic curriculum, rooted in Catholic values and designed to cultivate each student’s academic and social-emotional growth.
