Discovering Excellence: AHN’s Pre-K Open House Experience

Discovering Excellence: AHN’s Pre-K Open House Experience

On November 7, the Academy of the Holy Names opened its doors to prospective Pre-K families, offering a warm welcome to experience the heart of our Catholic learning community. The Pre-K Open House is an opportunity to showcase the Academy's commitment to educating and nurturing the whole child. From campus tours to conversations with teachers and leadership and even classroom observations, Open House allows parents to witness firsthand the exceptional educational environment that awaits their children.

The day began with an introduction from President Kevin P. Whitney. Other speakers included Lower and Middle School Principal Bridgid Fishman, Director of Admissions Pam Larkins-Doherty ’87, Admissions Assistant Amanda Faunce, and Director of Mission & Ministry Sister Lisa Perkowski, IHM, who provided further insights into the Academy's mission and values. Student speakers also shared how attending the Academy has helped shape them into who they are today.

One highlight of the day was the student-led tours conducted by 7th and 8th grade Ambassadors to give families a glimpse into the life of an Academy Jaguar. They visited key spaces such as the Chapel, the Bailey Family Center for the Arts, lower school classrooms, and the STEM lab.

Pre-K Open House provided a platform to spotlight what sets the Academy apart:

  • A Community of Faith and Love: In a Catholic school inspired by the Gospel and the charism of the Sisters of the Holy Names, we are an inclusive community of faith, guiding students in each unique stage of their faith journey.

  • Responsive Classroom: This research-based approach boosts teacher effectiveness and student achievement while cultivating a positive school environment.

  • A Passion for Education: Our Lower School educators are dedicated to nurturing your child's academic, spiritual, and social-emotional growth. Each classroom is staffed by both teachers and teaching assistants, providing opportunities for individualized learning and support.

  • A Rich Arts Program: The institution offers a rich arts program, including visual arts, drama, and music classes, all housed in the dedicated Center for the Arts. This creative outlet allows students to explore their talents and passions in a supportive and nurturing environment.

  • Service Learning: At the Academy, we believe in nurturing not just young minds but also compassionate hearts. From the very start, our youngest students embark on a path of service and kindness.
