Robbie Shaffer Hired as Head Coach of AHN Swim & Dive Program

Robbie Shaffer Hired as Head Coach of AHN Swim & Dive Program

The Academy of the Holy Names is proud to announce the hiring of Robbie Shaffer as the new head coach of our Swim & Dive program. Coach Shaffer, a dedicated and experienced swimmer and coach, takes over the reins from his father, the late Bill Shaffer, who built a legacy of success and camaraderie within the program.

Robbie brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has a distinguished background as a competitive swimmer, having competed at the collegiate level for Loyola University New Orleans. In addition, Robbie has several years of coaching experience at both the club and high school levels. His most recent role was as the Head Age Group Swim Coach at Academy Aquatic Club, where he worked with swimmers of various skill levels and ages.

His deep understanding of the sport, combined with his leadership and passion for developing athletes both in and out of the pool, made him the perfect choice to lead our swim program into the next chapter. In his new position, Robbie is committed to building on the success of the program, cultivating a positive and collaborative team environment, and continuing to make a lasting impact on our swimmers’ lives.

We are also pleased to announce that Chuck Hahn, Kathie McNeil, and Ken Wiebeck will return as assistant coaches for the 2025 season. In addition, Robbie will continue to serve as the head coach for both AHN and Jesuit High School's swim teams, creating a unique partnership between the two schools that will further strengthen our community and culture of excellence.

“I was grateful to be able to coach this past high school season with my dad,” Robbie Shaffer said. “He built the program to what it is now, and I'm excited for the opportunity to continue to build the program, as my dad and the rest of the coaching staff have over the past couple of decades.”

The mantra “One Team!” will continue to guide the AHN and Jesuit swimming programs, as Robbie Shaffer, like his father, fosters a family-focused environment and encourages excellence in and out of the pool.

Please join us in welcoming Robbie Shaffer to his new position. We are confident that under his leadership, the legacy of the swim program built by his father will continue to thrive.
