Laura Stegenga Named as Head Volleyball Coach at AHN
We are excited to announce the return of Laura Stegenga as the head coach of the Academy of the Holy Names volleyball team. After an extensive search, Laura has accepted the offer to lead our volleyball program once again, bringing her vast experience and success back to AHN.
A Celebrated Coaching Journey
Laura’s name may be familiar to you as she served as our head coach for the 2016 and 2017 seasons, where her two years at the helm helped pave the way for our program’s success. Following the conclusion of our 2017 season, Laura became the OTVA club director in Tampa. During her time with OTVA, the club was ranked Top 5 in the country for 5 consecutive seasons. During her seven years with OTVA, Laura balanced her role as club director and continued to coach at the club, with her teams earning multiple top finishes in the highest competitive levels, including a third-place finish in the country at the 2021 USAV Nationals. Additionally, she has twice been named Florida’s Region Female Coach of the Year, earning this prestigious title most recently in 2022.
Returning to AHN
Laura will finish coaching her OTVA team through USAV Nationals in July. She has also already begun her new professional career, which will allow her to continue her high school coaching career. Beginning with our tryouts in late July, Laura’s sole coaching duties will be as the head of our AHN volleyball program. Laura’s knowledge of our school, athletic program, and culture will allow her to have a smooth re-entry into her role as head coach, where her energy, passion, organization, and ability to communicate effectively will make an immediate impact. Laura and I are confident in the group of girls we have here at the Academy and have high expectations for the 2024 season and beyond.
Upcoming Tryouts
We look forward to having Laura back on campus when tryouts begin on July 29. Please note that while the tryout dates of July 29, 30, and 31 remain the same, we have adjusted our times, and tryouts will now run from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on those three evenings.
