Jaguars Earn USA Lacrosse Honors

Jaguars Earn USA Lacrosse Honors

The Academy of the Holy Names lacrosse team continues to shine, capping off another accomplished season with major individual and coaching honors from USA Lacrosse.

Lauren Martinez ’26 earned USA Lacrosse All-American honors, a prestigious recognition awarded to the nation’s top high school players for their elite skill, game sense, and sportsmanship. In February, Lauren made program history by breaking the all-time goal-scoring record of 154 career goals. She went on to finish the 2025 season with 78 goals, bringing her career total to 214—an impressive achievement for the junior standout.

Classmate Maddy Hughes ’26 was recognized as a USA Lacrosse Academic All-American, an honor that celebrates excellence both on the field and in the classroom. Her consistency and leadership were instrumental in the team’s success throughout the season.

AHN also celebrates Coach Ariana Newman, who was named Coach of the Year by the local USA Lacrosse chapter. She has led the Academy's high school lacrosse program since 2014, helping shape it into a competitive and respected presence in the region.

“My passion is to inspire young women to be creative and competitive through the sport of lacrosse,” Coach Newman shares. “I am a believer that lessons on the field will help young athletes excel in life outside of sports. I am forever a student of the game and enjoy keeping up with new trends, skills, and tactics.”

This year marked the team’s third consecutive 1A-District 8 title, secured with a 10–7 victory over rival Tampa Catholic. The Jaguars advanced to regionals once again, extending their strong postseason tradition and marking another milestone in the program’s development.

Congratulations to Lauren, Maddy, Coach Newman, and the entire AHN lacrosse team on a standout 2025 season!
