Academy Students Set New Records on Advanced Placement Exams

The Academy of the Holy Names continues its tradition of academic excellence with record-setting results on the College Board's Advanced Placement (AP) exams.

During the 2025–26 school year, Academy high school students achieved a school-record 90% qualifying pass rate, with nine out of every 10 exams earning a score of 3 or higher. A total of 345 students took at least one AP exam, and students completed 1,000 AP exams, the highest number in Academy history.

Students earned a 100% qualifying pass rate in the following subjects:

  • AP Studio Art: 2-D Art and Design
  • AP Studio Art: Drawing
  • AP English Language and Composition

The Academy encourages every student to complete at least one AP course before graduation. According to College Board research, exposure to college-level coursework in high school is one of the strongest predictors of future college success. The open-access policy to AP coursework has awarded the Academy with the College Board’s Platinum distinction over the past two years.

The Academy's AP program has expanded by 25% over the past four years. Beginning in the 2026–27 school year, students will have access to 34 AP courses, including the new AP Business and Finance and Cybersecurity courses, which are part of the College Board's AP Business Distinction program.

Another hallmark of the Academy's academic program is the Scholars Program, which identifies high-achieving students for accelerated coursework beginning in ninth grade. Eligible students have the opportunity to begin their AP experience early by taking AP Biology, AP Human Geography, and AP Computer Science. 99% of the identified students received a qualifying score of 3 or higher in those courses.

These record-setting results reflect the dedication of Academy students, the expertise of our faculty, and the strength of a college preparatory curriculum that challenges students to excel both in the classroom and beyond.
