AP Exam Results Showcase AHN's Academic Rigor

AP Exam Results Showcase AHN's Academic Rigor

The Academy of the Holy Names is proud to announce the exceptional results of the 2024 AP testing cycle. A particular point of pride is the performance in six subjects where students achieved a 100% passing rate: AP Art and Design 2D, 3D, and Drawing, Japanese Language and Culture, United States History, and World History Modern. This marks the fifth consecutive year that AHN students have scored perfectly in Visual Arts assessments, highlighting the consistent excellence in this field.

Beyond these six subjects, the Academy saw success across a range of other AP exams. Eleven additional subjects had the majority of testers achieving scores of 3 or higher. These subjects include Art History, Biology, Calculus BC, English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Precalculus, Psychology, Spanish Language and Culture, and United States Government and Politics.

The Academy continues to encourage all students to consider AP-level coursework as part of their academic journey. The year 2024 witnessed a significant increase in the number of AP exams taken, with 844 exams representing a 29% surge from the previous year. This increase was accompanied by the highest number of students in school history—331 in total—showing interest in advanced coursework, marking a 13% increase.

Notably, the Academy had its first cohort of 14 freshman students participate in AP Biology, all of whom achieved a passing score. This achievement is particularly impressive and underscores the rigorous academic environment and support provided by the Academy.

Competitive colleges and universities often value students who have taken multiple AP exams through the College Board as part of their admissions criteria. Moreover, many schools offer college credit for AP exam scores of 3 or higher, providing significant advantages to students as they transition to higher education.

The Academy applauds these students and teachers for their efforts in achieving this benchmark.
