The Academy of the Holy Names is excited to announce the appointment of Robert J. Martin, J.D., LL.M., as the new Chief Finance and Operations Officer (CFOO). With over 20 years of experience in financial leadership and a proven track record of success in Catholic education and nonprofit institutions, Mr. Martin brings unparalleled expertise and dedication to his new role. His appointment follows the announcement of John Donohoe’s retirement, who has served faithfully as CFO for many years.
Mr. Martin shared his excitement about joining the Academy, saying, “I’m thrilled to become a part of the Academy of the Holy Names’ family, and I am excited to join such a faith-filled community where respect, care for one another, and the full development of the human person are not just mere words. Over the past few weeks, the SNJM charism has been fully evident as we witnessed the inspiring compassionate efforts of service led by the Academy family within their internal community, and throughout the Tampa Bay area.”
Mr. Martin joins us from the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF), where he has served as Chief Financial Officer and in-house counsel since January 2023. Mr. Martin has already begun meeting with members of our business office and will officially start full-time in early November, allowing for a six-week overlap with retiring CFO John Donohoe. In his new role, Mr. Martin will take over responsibility for the Academy’s financial operations and oversee non-academic school operations, including facilities, security, food service, the clinic, and auxiliary programs.
Mr. Martin also expressed his eagerness to collaborate with the Academy’s leadership, stating, “I look forward to working with John Donohoe over the coming weeks, and I firmly believe that the sound financial path he set Academy on will continue into the coming years. I believe that leadership requires a process of service and sacrifice, like Nehemiah of the Old Testament, a wonderful example of balancing faith and trust with pragmatic planning. I pledge to continue my career-long commitment to excellence, creativity, and solution-oriented practices.”
