AHN Celebrates Sister Lisa Perkowski, IHM, as She Embarks on a New Chapter of Leadership
The Academy of the Holy Names extends its heartfelt gratitude to Sister Lisa M. Perkowski, IHM, as she concludes 14 years of ministry and service to the Academy. Her final day with us at AHN is June 19, 2026.
In April, Sister Lisa was elected to serve as a council member on the leadership team of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM), a significant honor and responsibility within her congregation. In this new role, she will help guide the congregation's mission and ministries, serving both her religious community and the broader Church.
Since joining the Academy in 2012, Sister Lisa has been a valued presence at AHN, serving in numerous roles, including high school visual arts teacher, Fine Arts Department Chair, Interim High School Principal, and, most recently, Director of Mission & Ministry.
As an educator and artist, Sister Lisa inspired students to encounter truth, beauty, and faith in meaningful ways. As a leader, she helped shape some of the Academy's most significant initiatives, including the development of the Heritage Center, which celebrates the legacy of the Sisters of the Holy Names, and the realization of the Bailey Family Center for the Arts.
In her role as Director of Mission & Ministry, Sister Lisa played a vital role in advancing the Academy's Light the Way strategic plan and strengthening the lived expression of Catholic faith and SNJM values across campus. Under her leadership, AHN expanded retreat opportunities, introduced Mission Days for high school students, broadened access to local and international mission experiences, strengthened partnerships with local parishes, and enhanced formation opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and trustees.
In a letter to the AHN community, Sister Lisa reflected on the relationships and shared mission that have defined her time at the Academy.
"Serving here for the past fourteen years has been an inexplicable gift," she shared. "The talent, intellect, generosity, and most of all, the charism of this community—represented in each of you—is truly special."
She also expressed her hope that the mission and values that define the Academy will continue to flourish.
"I entrust it to you: to continue to engage those core values—and all they stand for in upholding the dignity of the human person and care for creation—in your classrooms, your curriculum, and your daily decisions."
President Kevin Whitney expressed gratitude for Sister Lisa's many contributions and for the countless ways she has shaped the Academy.
"For the past 14 years, Sister Lisa has been an extraordinary presence in our community," Whitney said. "Beyond her titles and accomplishments, she has been a valued member of our leadership team, a trusted colleague, and a compassionate mentor. Her impact on our students, faculty, staff, and families will be lasting."
While the Academy will deeply miss Sister Lisa's presence on campus, we celebrate her new call to leadership and the opportunity she has to serve her congregation in this important role. A formal installation Mass for the newly elected members of the IHM Leadership Team will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel at the IHM Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The Mass will be livestreamed here for those who wish to participate.
We thank Sister Lisa for her years of faithful service, leadership, and friendship, and we wish her many blessings as she begins this next chapter.
