The Academy of the Holy Names has embarked on the most dynamic and transformative educational endeavor since our founding more than 137 years ago. The Sisters of the Holy Names were pioneers in establishing schools in the City of Tampa, providing a contemporary and progressive learning experience that nurtures the mind, body and spirit of every child within a Catholic environment, including young girls and minorities who had limited access to formal education.
This long-standing tradition will not change, nor will the profound ethos of living out our motto, “Esse Quam Videri,” which means “To be, rather than to seem.” At the Academy of the Holy Names, we continue to challenge ourselves and our students to meet the needs of our times in new and relevant ways with our school mission at the heart of all that we do.
The very nature of remaining progressive, in regard to providing an advanced education, requires ongoing examination and adaptation, not only to the physical structure and spaces within the Academy, but also in the use and availability of the latest technologies for our students. To continue as stewards of a great legacy, our objective is to redefine the high standards upon which our reputation was built.
