How to Apply

We have the most availability in the following grades:

• Pre-Kindergarten
• 5th grade
• 6th grade
• 9th grade (approximately 85 young women join our rising 8th graders to complete our class of approximately 120).

Students are accepted to all other grade levels based on available space, which varies from year to year. Current AHN families re-enroll in mid-January, so by February we know which, if any, spaces are available. We are transparent in our availability to allow you to make the best decision for your child’s needs.

Each applicant to the Academy must complete the admissions process, regardless of sibling or alumni status. Priority is given to siblings and alumni if and when applicants' evaluations are considered equal. 

• A legacy candidate is a child whose mother or father graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names, Boys Academy, or Sacred Heart Academy.
• A sibling is the brother or sister of a currently enrolled student.

Yes. However, applications received after the initial application deadline will be given consideration on a space-available basis.

Admissions decisions for high school are communicated in mid-February. Decisions for the lower and middle school are communicated in the beginning of March. Priority is given to those whose applications are complete by the application deadline.

Students who meet all admissions criteria and are an excellent fit for the Academy may be placed in our wait pool when space is limited. Being in the wait pool is not a rejection, and placement is based on qualifications, not as a courtesy.

Yes. In fact, 25% of current Academy students come from non-Catholic families. We welcome not only students, but also faculty and staff, from Catholic and non-Catholic backgrounds. In keeping with the school’s mission statement, we believe in fostering a diverse community to best prepare our students for life after the Academy. This includes religious diversity.

Yes, we do. A review of the IEP/student support plan for students with documented learning disabilities and/or health issues happens prior to the full application process to ensure we are able to support your student before admission decisions are made.

Accommodation services include:

• Academic support, including study skills, time management, and organization.
• Personal counseling that is brief and solution-focused; referrals for longer-term needs.
• Support through after-school writing, math and science labs in the high school.
• Tutoring, either by connecting students with a peer tutor or providing referrals for outside, professional tutors.

Each year there are also student fees that cover the cost of books and consumables (all grades, including high school), technology devices (MS and HS), Parent Association dues, student retreats/service days, activities/local field trips, and graduation (12th grade). Fees do not include Extended Day, lunch or uniforms.

While we are widely known as an all-girls high school, we have proudly educated boys for over 60 years in our Pre-K through 8th grade programs.
