An SNJM Education
Transformative Learning for Life
We believe that education is more than just acquiring knowledge; it is about shaping individuals into compassionate, competent, and engaged global citizens. For over a century, the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) have been at the forefront of providing exceptional education that empowers students to make a positive impact on the world.
Part of the SNJM Network of Schools, Academy of the Holy Names is one of seven grade schools sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. The schools share a common Catholic faith tradition, holding the belief that excellence in education empowers people to unlock their God-given gifts and liberates them for the transformation of a society that is life-giving, hope-filled, and just. The core values unite us in SNJM charism and mission. As a pontifical religious congregation, the Province is both the recipient and carrier of the Gospel vision, values, and charism — what makes Academy of the Holy Names inherently Catholic.
Stewards of Faith
As a school, we embrace as a guide, inspiration and strength the persons and names of Jesus and Mary. Faith formation is a distinguishing characteristic of our school. We believe that God is good, and we honor God’s goodness by creating a welcoming place for people to explore and express their faith. Nurturing students’ creative spirit and its expression in the arts enhances students’ value of beauty, goodness, and truth.
Stewards of leadership
The school community embraces a leadership model that cultivates a culture of trust, develops shared leadership and focuses on the growth and well-being of people. We empower our students to own their voice and know their rightful place in the world. The school provides students with opportunities to develop skills for leadership and ministry and encourages them to assume these roles in their school, church, local and global communities and chosen profession.
Stewards of Education
An SNJM school provides a student-centered environment which brings about the full development of the human person. The curriculum and instruction challenge students’ skills in critical thinking, ethical decision making, creative problem solving, self-evaluation, communication and collaboration to face life’s constant change. School programs offer a global perspective which expands students’ knowledge of and respect for cultural and religious diversity and the richness it offers.
stewards of justice
We commit ourselves to justice and service for others. Grounded in Christ’s teachings and motivated by love and compassion, the school community commits time, energy and resources to the pursuit of right relationships of equality, justice and solidarity. We strive to cultivate in our students a deep sense of integrity, compassion, and social responsibility. Our graduates leave our schools as well-rounded individuals who are prepared to lead meaningful lives and contribute positively to society.
