In November,
Sister Elinor Sevigny
, SNJM (S’53), sister of
Ernel Sevigny Shorkey
(S’51) and
Josephine Sevigny Ball
(deceased, S’49), passed away. Although shehadbeen living
andministering to thepoor andmarginalized inOkeechobee,
Fla., for a number of years, Sr. Elinor had lifelong ties to
Tampa and the Academy of the Holy Names. She worked at
AHN as a teacher, administrator, principal of Boys Academy,
and shewas amember of the Board of Trustees. Shewas a
dear friend to local Sisters andmanymembers of the Tampa
community. In apast issueof Accord, Sr. Elinor notedoneof
her favorite passages from scripture was Romans 14:19, in
whichSt. Paul says, “Let us pursuewhat leads to peace and
tobuildinguponeanother.”Shehopedher legacywouldencourageothers tokeepdiscovering their
God-givengifts, talentsandabilitiesall their lives.Shebelieved that takingonnewadventureskeeps
peoplechallengedandhappy.

(deceased, S’49),

Paleveda Pupkiewicz
(deceased, S’42) and
Mary Anne
Paleveda
(S’55), passedawayJuly9.Her lifewascelebrated
in a funeral Mass held in the Chapel of BlessedMarie Rose
Durocher. Sr. Josephine Louise entered the order Aug. 1,
1949, and carried out the SNJM mission throughout her
entire life.Shebeganherwork inKeyWest in1949, returning
to Tampa in 1953. From 1969-1970, she worked at AHN in
Albany,beforeagain returning toTampa in1971asa regional
director for theorder. Sr. JosephineLouiseworked tirelessly
in many capacities throughout the SNJM ministry in the
TampaBayareaandTutwiler,Miss. Inaddition toherbeautiful
smile and kind and lovingmanner, shewill be remembered for her nearly 30 years of ministry to
St. CeciliaParish inClearwater, Fla.,which lastedbeyondher retirement in2001until her passing.
