Lieb followedwith anotherway of
illustrating the lasting charism of
theSisters. Shesharedanexcerpt
from Sr. Elizabeth’s speech from
more than 20 years before and
concluded with this statement:
“As educated women, use your
unique gifts of my good spirit
to creatively shape the world,
not adapt to it. Never lose your
idealism, your enthusiasm,
your capacity for wonder and
surprise.” After reflecting on Sr.
Elizabeth’s speech, Lieb realized
why it resonated with her father
years ago and herself today. Lieb
said, “It occurs to me that Sr.
Elizab th’s message from 1988
is just as relevant today as it
was then, and it will be to the
graduatesof theAcademyClassof
2088. That’s because the Sisters'
values are timeless, because they
teach a way of being that never
goes out of style and because
their commitment to these
ideal endures.”
Lieb spoke fondly of her 12
years as an Academy student,
expressing that the traditions and
values of the Sisters have shaped
whoshe is intellectually,spiritually,
emotionally and as awife,mother
and professional. As an alumna,
past trustee and current Academy
parent, StephanieLieb, alongwith
her husband Greg, has chosen
tomake a gift to the Holy Names
Legacy Society in memory of
Lieb’s father, Ralph Crane. In
making a planned gift, they hope
to do their part in ensuring the
Sisters’ mission and charism
live on. Both Sr. Elizabeth and
Lieb portrayed how special
the Academy legacy is and the
importance of preserving that
legacy for futuregenerations.
