Welcome to the Academy of the Holy Names. On this website you will find information about our mission, academic offerings, campus ministry and service programs, extracurricular activities and everything you need to know to stay current and connected.
The Academy is an independent, Catholic elementary school for boys and girls and a college preparatory high school for young women. We embrace the vision and core values of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, who founded our school in 1881 and are justifiably proud of our great history in Tampa. For many years now, our graduates have gone on to schools—and ultimately lives—formed by the education they received here. As a Catholic learning community, the Academy is committed to preparing students for the future by providing programs and activities that advance academic excellence and service to others, foster spiritual, personal and physical growth, and promote inclusion of all community members and embody the core values of a Holy Names education.
The Academy of the Holy Names is committed to its Catholic heritage while welcoming families of all faiths and backgrounds. We offer an innovative approach to curriculum that integrates technology, promotes creativity, encourages artistic expression and actively engages students in exploration and inquiry. While offering an academically challenging curriculum, we respect that the goal of education is to nurture children to become curious learners for life.
According to the Sisters, “Attentiveness and responsiveness to the needs of the time is a hallmark of the Sisters of the Holy Names … it is in collaboration and partnership that great things happen. The power of people united in a common mission far exceeds that of people working alone.” In today’s world the need for schools like the Academy—schools that are based upon a clearly articulated vision and strong core values—is greater than ever. I invite you to join us and become a part of this wonderful school and community.
